Position Overview:
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Computer Support Specialist to support data and technology initiatives within the Center for Data Architecture, Intelligence & Support (DAIS). This role supports long-term care operations across New York State, including data management, reporting, and technology support related to healthcare facilities.

The Computer Support Specialist will assist with maintaining data pipelines, analyzing datasets, supporting staff with data tools, and coordinating with IT teams to ensure employees have the technology and training needed to perform their work effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and validate healthcare data from multiple sources related to hospital and long-term care provider reporting.
  • Maintain and improve contact and operational databases used for reporting and internal activities.
  • Run and consolidate ad-hoc reports used to support Department of Health staff and operational priorities.
  • Maintain and monitor data pipelines that feed the OALTC Data Lake.
  • Create and maintain documentation for data assets, including data dictionaries and database mappings.
  • Perform routine database maintenance and assist with data management tasks as directed.
  • Provide technical support to staff and coordinate with IT services to install required software and hardware.
  • Train Department of Health staff on data tools, reporting systems, and best practices.
  • Assist with special assignments, data analysis projects, and operational support as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment managing multiple tasks.
  • Experience working with complex databases and large datasets.
  • Experience communicating with consumers, healthcare providers, and staff.
  • Experience creating data dictionaries and mapping database structures.
  • Knowledge of SQL, Python, R, or Tableau is a plus.

Work Environment:
This role supports statewide healthcare operations and works closely with internal teams to maintain critical data systems and provide technology support for staff and partners.
