Pay Range - $20-$35/hour

Job Description:
The Mechanic Technician diagnoses, repairs, and maintains cars and light trucks. Responsibilities include vehicle inspections, routine services, and accurate record-keeping of completed work. This role requires skilled analysis of mechanical issues, use of diagnostic equipment, and thorough safety checks to ensure vehicles are safe for operation.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair vehicle components, including engines, brakes, transmissions, electrical systems, and accessories.
  • Perform routine maintenance, including tune-ups, brake jobs, and other preventative services on various vehicles.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment to assess and resolve mechanical issues.
  • Adhere to safety procedures to prevent injuries and vehicle damage.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including shop tools and equipment.
  • Complete assigned training and certifications as directed by management.
  • Provide excellent customer service and problem-solving solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Competencies & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of auction experience or 2-4 years of dealership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with shop tools, diagnostic equipment, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, as well as related hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing work demands and environments.
  • High energy level, honesty, and trustworthiness.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent customer service abilities.
  • Valid NYS driver’s license and automobile insurance required.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged standing and walking on concrete surfaces.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, and working with arms raised.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with manual dexterity.
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, and depth perception.
  • Capability to lift heavy objects and work in various environmental conditions, including dampness, humidity, and exposure to chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel.
